This course follows Australian Accreditation Guidelines for swim teachers and upon completion and International Teaching Certificate is issued. The course contains the following components:
Practical induction and training
Certificate of Attainment and letter of recommendation
Total time: approximately 60 hours

Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety
The Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety is the foundation course, providing candidates with essential competencies to teach swimming and water safety to persons from four years of age in swimming pools and confined natural shallow water venues. The certificate is valid for three years.
Candidates are required to have a reasonable level of fitness and swimming ability. *see general prerequisites here: ‘fitness to participate’
The course consists of theory and practical components.
Theory component – topics may be offered through classroom attendance or selected topics via home study.
Practical component – involves swimming activities that may be carried out in shallow or deep water.
